ABOUT “MARLS”

Marlene was born in Victoria, Australia and has enjoyed a passion for drawing and art since early childhood.
Since relocating to Central Queensland in 1982, Marlene has lived interstate and overseas but has returned to Central Queensland and now resides in Rockhampton.
Having a rural background; Marlene developed an eye for detail regarding animals and nature and she appreciates the beauty found in ordinary aspects of life.

Marlene has formal training with a Diploma in Complete Commercial Art & Graphic Design with High Distinction. She has also participated in many and varied Art Workshops to expand her knowledge and skills.
Her most favoured medium is pastel as they bridge a gap between drawing and painting; but she also works in oil, acrylic, mixed media and graphite.

In recent years Marlene has won various awards and exhibited solely, jointly and in group exhibitions. Marlene also shares her knowledge by teaching drawing & pastels.

Marlene has always involved herself in community art groups and societies and is a member of The Royal Queensland Art Society Inc., The Pastel Society of Australia Inc., Queensland Wildlife Artists Society Inc., The Wildlife Art Society of Australasia Inc. and Artworkers Alliance.

Currently Marlene produces drawings & paintings for commissions, exhibitions and competitions. Marlene’s art may be viewed at the Pilbeam Theatre, Rockhampton Qld. or by contacting the artist.
